What if I’m scared of horses?

No worries! It’s completely normal to feel anxious around horses. We can turn this reaction into a positive by practicing self-regulation and using various helpful tools. You don’t need to interact with or even be close to the horses during our sessions. We can conduct everything away from the paddock if that’s more comfortable for you.

Do I need horse experience?

No prior experience with horses is required—just an open mind and a love for animals. Each session is unique, adapting to the environment, the horses, and the participants on that day. Activities may include observing, brushing, leading the horses, or engaging in small challenges like walking through obstacles. Every session incorporates regulation practice, mindfulness elements, and safety guidelines.

Is equine-assisted learning safe?

Absolutely, safety is a top priority in equine-assisted learning. Our horses are highly trained, and your facilitator is skilled in equine behaviour. Each session takes place in a controlled environment with all necessary safety measures in place.

What is Equine-Assisted Learning (EAL) ?

EAL focuses on learning with horses, emphasizing emotional literacy, regulation, boundaries, and self-awareness. It is suitable if you’re already working with a mental health practitioner.

What do I bring?

Please note that sessions are weather-dependent. Regardless of the conditions, it's important to wear closed-toe footwear such as gumboots, sneakers, or hiking shoes. Additionally, we recommend bringing a water bottle, sunscreen, and warm clothing on colder days.

Are sessions wheelchair accessible?

Yes. You can park just a few meters away and access activities in a wheelchair. Please discuss your specific needs with our admin team when booking.

Do sessions involve a lot of walking?

Not necessarily. Some clients enjoy hiking through the hills, while others prefer to remain seated for the entire session. It’s entirely up to you.

Do you accept NDIS participants?

We accept plan and self-managed NDIS participants.
